Heat Sensitivity: Moderate

Birefringence (double refraction): Weak to medium (.009-.020)
Crystal Structure: Tetragonal
Treatments: Generally none, but Purple may be irradiated and/or heat treated
What I prefer to polishing with: Alumina oxide on a Tin lap, Spectra Ultralap
Jeff's Comments: Heat during dopping can cause problems. Orientate for best color which is often the "c" axis. Use a medium fine lap for roughing in.
Design Notes: About any Quartz design will work well.
