The Best Jewelry Trends to Try in 2024
5 Minute Read
Fashion is seasonal, with each season boasting its own set of trends. Sometimes there are overarching trends that define and drive the entire year. The 2024 jewelry trends are embracing big, bold statement pieces, emphatically nodding to styles from the past, and showcasing motifs like rosettes, bows, and … pasta?
While this all sounds a little crazy, these trends are being executed extremely well in both fine jewelry and more affordable options. Here are the jewelry pieces you need to wear this year.
Rosettes
Something that feels entirely fresh is the trend of rosettes. These sweet, three-dimensional florals are a bold departure from minimalistic styles and lean heavily into the ever-growing trend of reflecting nature in our jewelry. Be on the lookout for rosette chokers and rosette earrings.
Oceanic Influence
The environment is on everyone's mind, so it's no surprise that the deep sea motif is now trending in 2024. Be on the lookout for chokers, large pendants and statement earrings that play with starfish shapes, crabs, lobsters, coral shapes, shells and other sea creatures. There will be plenty of smaller charms for bracelets and necklaces that play with the ocean trend, too.
Oversized Everything
This year, bigger is better. According to Pinterest's famous annual trend prediction report, oversized jewelry is going to dominate in 2024.
Think bold statement necklaces with sea creatures like we pointed out above, as well as big, chunky statement bangles and cuffs that play with molded alloys and big gems.
Bows
Just like the rosettes, the bow trend for 2024 is overtly feminine. But unlike rosettes, we've been seeing bows on the runway and in the shops for a minute, so seeing the trend crossover into jewelry only felt inevitable. You're going to have plenty of opportunities to integrate this trend into your look.
With the trends this year leaning bold and playful — and even a bit young — we're not surprised to see that food-themed jewelry is going to trend in 2024. This trend is going to be reflected in a wide range of favorites, from apples to mushrooms and pasta shapes. So whatever you're hyper-fixated on cooking these days, you can probably get a piece of jewelry to match.
Colorful, Gemstone Chokers
Chokers are back from the dead and trending again in 2024. Popular in the 90s and then again in the 2010's, 2024 is bringing this look back but with more gemstones. We've been seeing colorful, shorter gemstone necklaces get stacked on the runways. But, we think what's different about this trend is that the high-neck choker is taking center stage without any layering. Be on the lookout for lots of rainbow color palettes in this style, too.
Layers, Layers, Layers
Layering necklaces or stacking bracelets isn't exactly a new trend. In fact, we see it a ton, especially around the holidays. But, the layering trend for 2024 is actually rooted in the zeitgeist's current obsession with Y2K style. Louis Vuitton, Burberry, and Chanel are all bringing back the long, layered necklaces, and many jewelry houses will follow. But, you can achieve this look by getting thrifty, too, like adding extenders to your current necklaces for easier layering, or by vintage shopping and really getting something of the era.
Long Pendants
Despite being the antithesis of the busy and chunky layering trend, the more minimalist pendant trend will have its place in the trends this year, too. Just like the rosette, bows and big bangles, the long pendant is here to make a statement. We will see this take all kinds of shapes and forms, from large, geometric pendants to gemstones.
Bedazzled Hoops
Hoops have been a jewelry box staple forever. But in 2024, they're getting bigger and bedazzled. The iced-out hoops are a great way to frame your face, adding a bit of sparkle close to your eyes. They also have the potential to be the piece you rarely take off this year, as they seamlessly transition from dressy night-out to elevating the look of jeans and a sweater.
Clothing Jewelry
We're seeing an interesting trend in 2024 of creating jewelry for your clothes. From charms to hang off of your bikini to body chains designed to sit atop your shirt and diamonds to drip off your jeans, designers are getting more creative with how to wear your jewelry. For the girl who already has everything in her closet, this could be something fun and new to explore.
There's something here for everyone, but we're excited that those pieces from the past might just be back in style and back in your regular rotation again, too.
